Current Position

Laura Denault is an appellate lawyer who specializes in handling civil appeals in federal courts and Florida state courts. She also provides litigation support in the firm’s complex civil cases. Ms. Denault has over 20 years experience as an appellate and litigation support lawyer, and several years experience as a trial lawyer. Her practice has focused primarily on cases involving personal injury, wrongful death, products liability, legal malpractice, insurance disputes, employment law, and business or contract disputes.

Ms. Denault received her B.A. from the University of Florida in 1984. She graduated in the top 10% of her class and was a member of the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society. A portion of her undergraduate studies was completed in Florence, Italy. Thereafter, she attended the University of Florida College of Law where she was a member and coach of the Moot Court Team. In her third year of law school, she taught legal research and writing to first year students. She received her J.D. with Honors in 1988.

After law school, Ms. Denault was selected as a judicial clerk for the Honorable Bobby Gunther of the Fourth District Court of Appeal in West Palm Beach, Florida where she served the court for a year. Thereafter, she was selected as a federal judicial clerk for the Honorable Kenneth L. Ryskamp of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida. After completing her judicial clerkships in 1991, Ms. Denault joined the law firm of Overchuck & Langa, P.A. in Orlando, Florida. During her four years with the firm as a trial lawyer, she represented hundreds of plaintiffs in personal injury, wrongful death, and products liability cases in state and federal courts. In 1995, she returned to her hometown of Miami, Florida, and joined the firm of Russo & Talisman, P.A., which specialized in appeals and litigation support in complex civil cases. After a year, she opened her own firm providing those services. In 2000, Ms. Denault returned to Orlando and joined the firm of Overchuck & Newsome, P.A., while simultaneously maintaining her own firm. She was a founding partner of Overchuck, Denault & De Marco, P.A. in 2003. She left the firm in 2005 just before the birth of her son and since then has focused her practice exclusively on appellate work and litigation support.

Ms. Denault has been a member of the Christian Legal Society (“CLS”), the Academy of Florida Trial Lawyers (“AFTL”), the Central Florida Association for Women Lawyers (“CFAWL”), and is co-author of Products Liability in Florida Trial, 3rd Ed., 1995.
